It never worked for me, I sent couple of emails to the vendor and never got a response.Hate to say that but never had this kind of experience as I could'nt find any customer service number to contact.
Not having this meant I would have to either leave it on all the time or remember to turn it on and off. For example, my frame at work turns on a few minutes before I get in and turns off just after I leave.
The primary reason was the picture seemed washed out and there was dust between the glass and the LCD that couldn't be removed because of the way the frame is constructed. I've ordered several frames from various manufacturers (Pandigital and Smartpants), but this one (by Portable USA) is the only one I ended up returning.
Many frames have a clock/timer function that turns the frame on and off but this one did not. It made it look like there were pixels that were burnt out.
The look of the frame itself is, of course, a matter of opinion, but this one seemed less sleek than most; that is too say the frame itself dominated the picture. As for options, there were just a few. The Pandigital frames allow you to have different times for the week and weekend, which is extra handy for an office situation (or even at home when you might want it the opposite of your office schedule).
It seemed odd to have to do this for the frame (you don't turn other pictures on your desk on and off).It was OK as a frame but, for the price, I expected more.
I got this product and could not get it to work with my Mac as advertised. There is no phone number to contact these people for product support. Don't want anything they don't give you a phone number to contact for product support.
I ordered this frame as a gift and I'm really impressed with the photo size and quality. Granted, they are on almost 24-7 but what good are they if you can't have them on. It's not automatic - or at least we haven't figured out how to make it automatic.
I love the size of the photos in this frame and they look great. I'm also pleased that it has a 1 year warranty. It was easy to set up and the remote is a great feature.
Otherwise it is operating beautifully. Vertical shots are cropped a bit, but not so that they are awful. The only wrinkle in its operation is getting back to the slide show after the frame has been turned off.
I had purchased a different brand at Christmas for the same person and that frame only lasted about 5 months before it just stopped working. I am so pleased with the frame that I just ordered one for myself.
The SD card contained an entire Africa photo safari that I recently returned from. I ordered the USA PU-10W which was advertised with a black frame, when I opened the package, I discovered the frame was maroon not black. This would probably have been o k execpt when I inserted my 2 gb SD card an error message poped up stating no data found. There was no way to connect the digital picture frame to my pc to down load or transfer the photos from, so I e-mailed customer service and never heard from their support people. At this point, I packaged the digital picture frame up and returned it.
